The most basic tasks that we require from our phones are calling and texting. However, smartphones have made social media browsing part of our everyday lives. So if there is a smartphone which can perform all these purposes very well, most people would be content with it. And there are some of the finest low-end and low priced smartphones in the market that can fulfil this criterion. HTC’s recent entry level phone called HTC Desire 300 happens to be one such phone. So let’s talk a bit about the design and features of Desire 300.

The body of this phone is plastic with the matte rubberised texture also found on HTC One X as well as another HTC low-end device, Desire 601. Just like Desire 601, this one would also be available in three color options of white, black and red. The display of Desire 300 is 4.3 inch with a screen resolution of 800×480 pixels which is pretty reasonable for an entry level device. The physical dimensions of the phone are 131.78 x 66.23 x 10.12 mm along with a net weight of 120 grams. Default internal storage is just 4 GB but you can always use the microSD card slot to extent the memory up to 64GB. Just like Desire 601, we have 5 megapixel back end camera with f2.8 aperture, 34mm lens and WVGA recording. In addition to that, there is also a front facing VGA camera. 1650mAh removable battery seems quite sufficient to fulfil the power requirements of the phone.

There isn’t a big difference between the technical spec of Desire 601 and Desire 300, both being from the lower end of the spectrum. Operating system for both devices is also the same: Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 or 4.2.2, working in conjunction with HTC Sense user interface. So far there is no official word regarding the exact release date and price of the phone but both phones are expected to hit the market sometime in October this year. Price information for Desire 300 is not available but Desire 601 would be available for $180 in the US so we can expect the price of Desire 300 to be in that vicinity as well.

While the announcement said that Desire 601 would be launched in the EMEA markets, we are not sure about Desire 300 but hopefully mist would clear up in the following weeks.
